We will be posting photos and highlights of Bill Weborg's beautiful ceremonies on Friday afternoon. Thank you for allowing us some time to gather our thoughts to share with you.

 

The Ephraim, Wisconsin Fire Department is saddened to announce the Line of Duty Death of Assistant Fire Chief William “Bill” Weborg. Weborg died in the line of duty Sunday, September 26, 2004 while responding to a reported boat fire.

Bill leaves behind a wife and three young sons. Bill’s father Niles Weborg is the Chief of the Ephraim Fire Department. Also on the department is Bill’s younger brother Scott.

Bill we be honored Thursday, September 30th with a Full Honors Funeral. His flag-draped casket will be transferred from the Sister Bay Baptist Church to the Ephraim Moravian Cemetery on board a beautifully restored 1932 Seagrave, escorted by fire trucks from his own department and departments throughout Door County and northeast Wisconsin.

Members of the Professional Fire Fighters of Wisconsin Honor Guard will stand watch along with local firefighters during his visitation Wednesday evening. Thursday's Full Honors funeral will include crossed-aerial trucks provided by the Sturgeon Bay and Egg Harbor Fire Departments. Bagpipes and drums, and the final tolling of the call bell will be two of several honorary parts of Bill's service which will be led by the state Fire Chaplin. A final sounding of Ephraim Fire's paging tones is planned at burial.

Firefighters, EMS and law enforcement personnel, as well as the general public, are invited to attend the Assistant Chief's services in Door County. Travel and loding information is provided, as well as further information about the planned events (please see left menu).

Assistant Chief Bill Weborg will always be remembered as a brave, commited firefighter; a respected and caring leader and coach in his community; and a loving husband, father, son and brother.
